Project Development Manager for the City of Tampere Markus Joonas explains that the construction of the tram on Hämeenkatu allowed the whole lighting of Tampere’s main street to be renewed. Instead of a light curtain, Hämeensilta bridge has just regular lighting. The illuminations on Hämeenkatu street stretch from Rautatienkatu street to Hämeenpuisto Boulevard. The lamp posts over Hämeenkatu street have been fitted with 36 light curtains that, combined with the illuminations of Tammerkoski rapids, form a new axis of light in Tampere city centre. The Tampere Festival of Light presents new decorations on Hämeenkatu street and, stretching between Central Square and Hämeenpuisto Boulevard, the new Light Gallery Exhibition. The Festival of Light’s opening ceremony will take place on October 29th at 7 pm in Koskipuisto Park. The lights will illuminate the city centre until March 13th 2022. The familiar light fixtures from earlier Festivals of Light will be joined by new and surprising light work, starting from October 29th 2021 for the 56th Tampere Festival of Light.
It is so beautiful place and in some visions the Milavida could be a restaurant of cafe and there could be room for some calleries upstairs. The traditional Festival of Light will shine light into the darkest time of the year in Tampere. There is already some promises to renovation, but you never know when. It is made of wood and the surface keeps crushing.). Today many of Tampere's inhabitants have begun to force the Tampere city to renovate the Milavida again (there is a bit hurry for that already, as there is plants and even small trees growing on it's roof. Someone says that there is chosts in Milavida, but I haven't ever seen any :)
In 1998 the Milavida's Hameen museo was closed in Milavida because of economical reasons - and it has been empty since. There you could see how finns lived in their old houses, how they dressed etc. At first only part of it and in 1952 the whole building was opened as the "Hameen museo" - a museum of country and province of this area of Finland.
#MILAVIDA TIMEPIECE MOVIE#
Movie of Milavida fight at Civill war.)Īfter the war the city of Tampere fixed the Milavida building.
If you want to see photos of the movie, here is the address. (There is of course made a movie too of the fight, writed by Robert Alftan and Claes Ohlsson. After these dreadful happening Edward von Nottbeck - the guardian of the young twins - sold this beautiful building to the town of Tampere in 1905.Īs there was the civil war in Finland 1918, Milavida was a base of the Reds and was partly ruined at the fight. And a couple of years later Peter died having appendectomy in Paris. Unfortunately the family of Peter never could live in Milavida togheter, as Peter's wife Olga von Nottbeck died when giving birth to their twins at 1898 in BadenBaden. He e was one of the sons of the industrialist Wilhelm von Nottbeck, at Tampella-area. The building was designed by architect Karl August Wrede, and the it was originally completed in 1898 as "Milavida" for Peter von Nottbeck. It has so dark history, even if it is so white and lovely, absolute beauty. The building is alco called as "Nasilinna", it is a former palace on Nasinkallio, Tampere, Finland. I have just waited for a nice sunny day that I could blip this for you ) It is my absolute favourite building in Tampere in the middle of a beautiful park. The name means in finnish 'Silmän kantamattomiin' and in english 'More far than the eye can see'.
